Growing up, my mother was a mother to everyone around her. Joyce which was known affectionately as “Ma” or “Mama” by our neighbors, she had an innate ability to nurture and care for those in need. Our family owned a restaurant, which became a haven for the community. People would come to our restaurant not just for the food but for the warmth and kindness that my mother extended to everyone.

When someone in the neighborhood didn’t have enough money to buy food, my mother would ensure they didn’t leave hungry. She would prepare food from the restaurant and serve it with a cup of tea, often at the side gate to maintain their dignity. There were countless times I found myself delivering sandwiches and tea to those in need, guided by my mother’s unwavering generosity and compassion.

My mother was especially beloved by the young people in our community. Many of them were struggling with challenges such as addiction or homelessness. They would come to our restaurant seeking solace and sustenance. My mother never turned anyone away. She would provide not just food, but also clothing and sometimes just a listening ear. Her kindness knew no bounds.

This nurturing environment that my mother created had a profound impact on me. Witnessing her selfless acts of compassion and her dedication to helping others instilled in me a deep sense of purpose. It showed me the power of kindness and the difference one person can make in the lives of many.

Inspired by my mother’s legacy, I founded House of Joyce International, Inc. in 2019. Our mission is to carry forward her spirit of compassion and service by spreading faith, hope, and love across the globe. We are committed to making a positive impact through evangelization, missionary work, and community service.
